Quakeblast - The K.O. Master

Quakeblast just came on to the scene at the wrong time. With an official Shockwave from Hasbro, and Fan Toys reissuing Quakewave in THREE different colours, surely Cloud 9’s attempt to enter the market was doomed. But nope! These guys just thought ‘what the hell’ we’ve come this far lets sell the thing dirt cheap.

Quakeblast had caught my eye from the very beginning when they released that terrible grey, grainy picture which most third party collectors scoffed at.
“What! How very dare they release a KO of Quakewave!…But modify it so it’s kinda not Quakewave… But actually is.”

Slowly with the news of other releases I was sure this thing had had it. I was like a panicked mother who had lost her child in the supermarket - Quakeblast had gone! Fans Toys and Hasbro had crushed it like a delicate flower under foot.

But no, every so often they would tease me with another picture. I loved this guy so much because he had all the panel-lining and these big dumb feet like I remember Shockwave having.
I did totally lose my shit when it was announced the bot was going for dirt cheap. I got straight on to the interwebs and hit ‘buy’. By the look of it everyone else has as well because he's pretty much sold out at most big retailers.

After receiving this guy I can really see why he sold out so quickly. The plastic feels like a high quality and his die-cast feet really give him some weight.

I’m also a sucker for good looking packaging, and this guy has that! Or though I would of loved a little bit of embossing to top it off. This guy is different from his Quakewave counter part, the chest is slightly bigger, and the legs are a different sculpt. However, my favourite part is the small triangles on each side of his singular glowing eye, they kinda remind me of a very illogical moustache. I would of liked him to be more of a lighter purple like his G1 cartoon self, not like his ‘Alien film featuring toy’ self. (I could be wrong the grey toy could of featured in the film. It was a really dark scene).

I have seen and heard a lot of people saying they can’t get the hose to fit. I used a common trick, heating up the soft plastic with a hair dryer. This worked wonders for me and the thing isn't going to budge. If you’re going to do this be careful though, as over-heating could make the soft rubber stretch, leading to it warping.

I would really recommend this guy to anyone looking for an mp scale Shockwave, but please check out what reviewers have said about about him.

Thanks for checking this out peeps
