Fembots pt2

We are now rolling in to my favourite time zone of Transformers collecting.

Prime has just hit the scene, I had just finished catching up on animated and switched over to Prime which was 1 season in.

This is when I pretty much took up collecting figures again, and doing it to excess.

Prime's Arcee was In fact one of the 1st Fembots I picked up, but not the 1st edition (she came later). My original got a fresh new paint job and morphed in the flame war (as seen on my last post).

1st edition Arcee when the series first came out was a nightmare to track down. All Ebay had left was the scalper priced ones and most sites had sold out of stock. Having got hold of the toy eventually (Thanks to Ross’s selling first editions off at $10 a pop) I would say she is definitely worth it. This figure really does make the deluxe version very inferior as she has a more show accurate appearance. If you want scale in your collection though, she is not for you as she stands a lot taller than most of the deluxe figures. An Amazon warrior when compared to first edition Megatron…!

Airachnid is a let down of a toy. She's just a big old clump of plastic that marginally resembles her. Her articulation is pretty rubbish and the fact that she doesn't turn in to her spider mode pretty much crushes me. I really can't say much on her that hasn't already been said before.

But a few posatives I love her Maleficent inspired head sculpt and her sleek stealth helicopter alt mode. One day I hope a 3rd party company will pick her up and right the wrong Hasbro inflicted on her.

Beast hunters was to be the last of prime style toys, this season came to an abrupt end as Hasbro decided to kill of the season half way through and the writers had to cram the rest of the story line in to a mini-series/movie.

From this toy line we got Ripclaw a female Predacon,I love this character because she is in no way near a typical looking fembot. She has this dragon like head and a massive aggressive looking claw gun at the end of her tail. I will alas be forever hoping we will get an official repaint of Serket from Rage of the Dinobots. She is a repaint of Ripclaw and was heavily featured in this 4 part comic. Ripclaw had a 2nd shot of her in a test tube/ growing tube in Shockwaves lab before every thing was burnt down.

Then along came Windblade! For once the fans where given the choice to pick what type of Transformer they wanted mass produced. I really do feel this was a turning point for the fems, Arcee was living it large in the IDW world brawling Decepticons. She was really making a statement that the girls had just as much fire power. I really feel this drove it home to Hasbro that people wanted more females in Transformers world.

WindBlade’s look was influenced by Preceptors (Geshia) Nikita’s look. Her paint apps on her face nearly match the G1 Geshia’s look. I did vote for a female in the poll and I am really happy with the way she turned out, but as a character in the IDW world I think she is rubbish, I feel really let down with how they have portrayed her. The only gripe I have about the actual toy though, is her stupid heels that flip back every time you try to pose her.

With Windblade being such a wuss she really needed a bodyguard and out came, a character not really seen since much since her G1 appearance, Chromia. She was retooled out of the Deluxe Prime Arcee’s mould, personally I am not a big fan of that mould but they really did a good job disguising it.

She has a slightly updated look, a futuristic bike mode, and the biggest amount of back kibble ever. She wasn't half bad!!

Arcee Finally got a more G1 toy just like Chromia. I’ve already done a short blog about her and her mould-sister NightBird. So I just thought I would pop a few pics and say again this was a long await ed release and I couldn't be more happier with my purchases. Spot on hasbro…spot on.

Strongarm is next in line and I kinda feel that with this series comes the decline in figures. I've not watched the show so I have no clue what this character is about. But from the toy I get a feeling she's like an old school matriarch. Clean cut, and straight to the point, never diverting from the rules.

Her alt mode looks like a simplified version of primes breakdown and her robot face looks like primes Wheeljack just with a set of lips smacked on. She has remarkably little back kibble and comes with a gun with a water shooting effect?? Who knows what that is answers?

The world of MP changed when Road rage arrived, a clear sign Takara wanted to get there money's worth out of the MP Tracks mould, plus the MP line was becoming a bit of sausage party. But rather than a straight up new paint job and blam it's Roadrage.. Takara did a little remoulding. Slimmed thighs, daintier hands and arms, and of course a new head. She never got the sparkly effect paint job just a flat red. She was featured on the G1 boxes as a red tracks. I would of preferred an MP Arcee to be the 1st fembot to come out of the MP line, but Roadrage will do nicely.

With Hasbro down grading their toy lines to Combiner Wars, with the box hands, square bodies and hollowness, they didn't give themselves much femness to work with.Takara did the only thing it could do… repaint old fembot moulds.

From this wave came Nightbird (seen earlier). Slipstream who is a homage to her animated 1st appearance. They used the Windblade mould for this and did a few tweaks and added some null-rays, because what's a seeker with out there null-rays!! I always had a soft spot for Slipstream, She's made from an unmetionalbe part of Starscreams spark. Pure fan girl fiction right there for you.

Last on this show case is Legends Blackarchina, she is using the old animated mound but has a few tweaks. Enhanced boobs thanks to her bigger mandibles, and a more Beast Wars head sculpt. I like to flip her arm spikes down so it looks more show accurate.

I wasn’t a fan at first because on the original the old mandibles make up her waist and really help pad her out. These new one’s just pad her boobs. In hand though she ozzies that Blackarchnia sexiness. Now all we need is a decent Silverbolt to go with his venomous Queen.
