Dinozaurs What!

With the TF community going crazy for Dinobots, and various 3rd party companies releasing them at an alarming rate; I seem to have taken a side-step and gone down a completely different route.

This different path is known as, Dinozaurs!

Dino-Tyranno

Dinozaurs was a show that aired back in the early noughties which was a mix up of CGI characters and traditional animation. It revolved around two faction: the good Dino-Knights who are transforming dinosaurs, and the bad guys, Dragozaurs who are evil transforming dragons that want to steal Earth’s life force. Millions of years ago the Dino-Knights defeated the bad guys. And now in present day, the Dragozaurs return to try attempt to steal Earth’s life force once again. In the modern day of the cartoon, the good guys are fossilised dino bones who get brought back to life by a mystical force that binds the bones back together, recreating the Dino-Knights. (I really have no clue how this happens I’ve not watched the cartoon).

Gigano Dragon

I stumbled across the toys and am now constantly on the look out for them. They are becoming harder to find as they were not really that popular. Also the fact that a large portion of the toy sculpts are made of chrome led to an early demise for most of them, because as we all know chrome on toys come with terrible consequences. Typically paint flaking is a major destroyer of these guys, also the translucent plastic cracks and splits.

Dino Stego

What really caught my eye with this range was the mix between the 2 totally different effects in the plastic. The chrome painted parts are the fossilised bones, and the translucent plastic make the mystical force that holds them together where the skin and muscle would of been.

Drago Ceratops

Each have really amazing head sculpts, conveying a very moody humanoid face wearing a dino helm. I'm not 100% sure how they worked millions of years ago when they had flesh and guts, I can only imagine their transformation was very messy.

Transforming these is very simple and satisfying, most of them have very crazy hips that are double ball jointed. Also, the majority have really crazy back kibble consisting of a head, tail, or belly flaps.

The poor Dragozaurs pretty much got the raw end of the deal with this toy line, their minions mainly consist of repaints of the Dino-Knights. Their paint schemes are all much darker and sinister, but I’ve got to tip my hat to Bandai as they did do different head sculpts for them.

Currently my collection stands at 4: Dino Tyranno, Dino Stego, Gigano Dragon and

Drago Ceratops (try saying this out loud it’s a mouth full). The latter I would have to say is my fave. There are about 22 different figures in the line, and yes before you ask there is a combiner, Dino Styrako is 3 dino’s that combine to make 1 bigger Dino-Knight.

If you like the look of these guys, like I said be prepared to look really hard and be meet with some heartache; with flakes, missing parts, and chrome wear being all too common. If that doesn't put you off - happy hunting!

Thanks for reading
